What's new in NewWayService 4
- Performances were improved. Indeed, the new version 4 is now using the version 2.1 of the Firebird database engine. Firebird 2.1 is faster that the previous version 1.5. So, NewWayService 4 is now faster.
- Performances of the web interface were improved. Web pages now display faster and require less bandwidth.
- Application performances were improved. It is now faster to load data at startup.
- Sections Customer access (New work order) and Customer access (Consult a work order) were greatly improved. New options are now available in these sections.
- Technicians can now capture the signature of a customer directly from the web interface of NewWayService. The customer can sign directly using a web browser and the signature is saved in the database in JPEG format.
- Some sections of the web interface are now customizable using Template files. For example, you can change colors, fonts, add your logo, etc.
- It is now possible to export appointments of NewWayService to Microsoft Outlook.
- Customers, products, serial numbers, spare parts, technicians, articles, and suppliers can now be copied to speed-up creation of new items.
- It is now possible to mark work orders on screen using a small flag.
- Filter criteria can now be saved and reused when needed. This is very useful for users using same filter criteria most of the time.
- A new Suppliers module was added. This is now possible to manage inventory of spare parts.
- A new Alerts module was added. It is now possible to configure alerts, for example, to send an e-mail when a work order stays unchanged for a period of time.
- It is now possible to broadcast a message on screen to all users connected to NewWayService (Windows version).
- It is now possible to change the status of a work order by right clicking on it and without having to enter in modification mode on the work order.
- There is a new button in the customer record that displays the map (Google map) according to the address entered in the Address field.
- It is now possible to indicate to the software to set the service rate to 0 when the product in on warranty or on service contract. It is also possible to indicate to the software to copy the duration of the action in a different service rate according if the product or serial number is on warranty or service contract.
- It is now possible to enter negative durations in actions (tab Service Billable Time).
- User defined fields can now be sorted on screen.
- It is now possible to filter work orders by zone.
- It is now possible to prevent a user to modify a work order for specific status.
- When selecting a predefined task, tasks are now filtered according to the type of work order selected.
- It is now possible to sort the list of technicians in the calendar of appointments.
- It is now possible to print the record of a customer, product, serial number, spare part or technician.
- It is now possible to print the calendar of appointments.
- It is now possible to send reports and forms by e-mail. They are automatically converted in PDF format.
- The zoom size of the report print preview is now kept in registries.
- Reports criteria can now be saved and used later if needed. This is very useful for users who always run some specific reports with same criteria.
- When customizing reports, it is now possible to manually modify the link type between tables in SQL queries.
- It is now possible to insert a picture in the technician record. This can be useful if you want to send the technician picture by e-mail when sending a work order by e-mail or when printing a work order.
- It is now possible to copy an e-mail format on a new one.
- When sending a work order by e-mail, it is now possible to indicate to also attach a Vcard file (iCalendar) for each appointment of the work order.
- It is now possible to edit e-mail formats in WYSIWYG mode.
- When sending work orders by e-mail, it is now possible to connect to a secure SMTP mail server (SSL).
- It is now possible to purge e-mails (work orders sent by e-mail).
- A new Backup option is now available directly via the Utilities menu. This option allows you to make a backup copy of the database with a simple mouse click.
- A new utility named Database utility is now included and allows to backup or restore the database more easily than using the Firebird GBAK utility.
- From now, only an employee having administrator rights can update a database when installing updates of NewWayService.
- A data transfer utility that allows you to transfer your data from NewWayService 3 to NewWayService 4 with a simple mouse click is included. A data transfer utility from NewWayService 2 to NewWayService 4 is also included.
- You can now rent licenses instead of buying it. This is particularly useful for organizations that must manage an annual budget for user licenses.
- Several other minor improvements are also included in the new version 4.
