You pay only once for licenses bought. There is no annual fee for licenses bought.

It is different for rented licenses since the rental period is for one year. So, rented licenses must be renewed yearly if you want to continue to use NewWayService when the rental period ends.

When you buy licenses of NewWayService, you automatically get all minor updates of NewWayService for free. There are no fees for minor updates and no service or maintenance contract to buy.

When you rent licenses of NewWayService, you automatically get all minor and major updates of NewWayService for free. Indeed, rented licenses can be used with the version 4 or higher of NewWayService.
